4. The Cat House on the Kings

The Cat House on the Kings, California’s largest no-cage, no-kill sanctuary and adoption center, is dedicated to finding permanent homes for rescued cats and kittens while providing a safe and happy environment for those unable to be adopted. Founded by Lynea Lattanzio, the sanctuary also focuses on preventing pet overpopulation through spaying and neutering and educating the public on responsible pet ownership. Over the past 32 years, The Cat House on the Kings has rescued approximately 52,311 cats, and 7,900 dogs, and spayed or neutered an estimated 90,000 animals. The sanctuary currently cares for over 700 cats and kittens, a few dogs, and several peacocks.

5. Furball Farm Cat Sanctuary

Furball Farm is a dedicated sanctuary for feral cats in imminent danger, focusing exclusively on these animals rather than owner surrenders or friendly strays. Through donations, the sanctuary provides a safe and loving environment for over 350 cats that might otherwise be overlooked. Additionally, Furball Farm offers a low-cost spay/neuter program to assist low-income pet parents in managing their pets responsibly.
