Ingredients You Need for Easy Marinated and Grilled Portobello Mushrooms [Vegan, Gluten-Free]

  • 4 Portobello mushrooms
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup sweet balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce or tamari 
  • 3 tablespoons agave
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutritional yeast
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt, optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional

How to Prepare Easy Marinated and Grilled Portobello Mushrooms [Vegan, Gluten-Free]

  1. Remove the stem from the mushrooms and scoop out the gills with a spoon. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, add all the ingredients (except the mushrooms) and mix well.
  3. In a large bowl, place the mushrooms face up.
  4. Drizzle the marinade over it and cover with plastic wrap. Let it marinate for 30 minutes.
  5. After 30 minutes, heat a grill until its hot.
  6. Skewer 2 mushrooms per skewer. Place on hot grill, face down.
  7. Grill the mushrooms on each side for 2 minutes or until browned.
  8. Use up all the remaining marinade to baste and drizzle over the grilling mushrooms.
