Starving Dog Who Was Left Behind After Her Family Moved Finally Gets Help!

Rocky Ridge Refugee is an animal sanctuary located in North Arkansas, that does amazing work on behalf of our animal friends. The name may sound familiar – just a couple months ago we shared the story of a rescued mini cow named Moonpie who thinks she is a dog, from this awesome sanctuary. If one thing is clear, the people behind Rocky Ridge are dedicated to helping animals at ay cost.

Janice Wolf, the founder of Rocky Ridge Refuge recently rescued a five-year-old German Shepherd who was abandoned by her former guardians – left inside their house after all the people had moved away.

The poor dog was left alone in the house for several weeks until finally a neighbor heard her crying and sought help. Wolf has been dedicated to her recovery. 

Rocky Ridge Refugee notes on their Facebook page that, “She was close to death from dehydration and starvation at that point. She was so weak and suffered a hard fall that caused spinal trauma also.”

All of these photos were taken after she was hydrated and had eaten a few deserving meals, so they don’t show the extent of her emaciation with her thick fur hiding her body. 

Rocky Ridge Refuge has given her a beautiful name: Ember and says that she is doing well and is able to walk. She is gaining weight steadily and can move without pain. We are so glad Ember found her way to Rocky Ridge Refuge and is getting the second chance she deserves! We hope there is a way to find the person who abandoned Ember, leaving her even though they knew she was without food or water,  and they are prosecuted on animal cruelty charges.
