If you’re a Tinder user who has swiped far more than you’ve been matched, how about using the app to find some good old fashioned puppy love instead? Really, swipe “Yes” or “No” to find a new best friend/doggie date!
Sadly, approximately, 7.6 million dogs are abandoned, left homeless and forced into animal shelters around the U.S. each year. That’s why a project called Puppy Love is making Tinder into something so much more than a dating and pickup service. Their goal is to increase animal adoption rates and to find the puppies homes. The team who worked on the dog profiles partnered with Social Tees Animal Rescue, a nonprofit based in Manhattan’s East Village that rescues abandoned animals from shelters.
The puppies’ photos appear on profiles just like any human, and you can swipe, pick and choose in the same way you would find a date. According to CNN Money, puppy profiles have generated 2,000 matches since these accounts were first created. This is a great idea that will hopefully gain traction and allow abandoned pets to find loving homes!
