Couple Is Profiting From Videos of Themselves Eating Protected Species – Let’s Get YouTube to Shut Them Down!

Animals are routinely targeted and exploited by humans in countless ways throughout the world. Whether it be tourist attractions like aquariums and roadside zoos, illicit poaching and wildlife trafficking, or the cruelty-laden meat and dairy industry, animals do not seem to have a fighting chance against humans. But in a twisted story so hard to believe, the survival of protected species is being threatened in the most shocking and disturbing way … a couple in Cambodia has been posting videos of themselves skinning and eating protected species, and they have been making a profit from it.

A petition on Care2 explains that wife and husband, Ah Lin Tuch and Phoun Raty, have posted videos of themselves skinning and eating protected wildlife, like the recently-endangered, now vulnerable fishing cat, as well as lizards, frogs, and birds, including a large heron. The couple has since made at least $500 from Google-sponsored advertisements as a result of these videos.

Although this couple is being investigated by the Cambodian government, it is not enough, and the petition is calling on YouTube to delete the couple’s channel. Not only are these two people killing animals for spectacle and profit, but they could also be spurring other people to do the same. Please take a moment to sign the petition here.
