Thanks to the life-saving call of a kind stranger, a dog in need is now safe and warm for the holiday season. After the dog, now named Charlie, wandered into the backyard of a nice family, they called the Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue. It can get down below freezing in Detroit at nighttime this time of year, so this sweet boy is lucky to have wandered into the yard of such compassionate people who knew exactly who to call for help.

Once the team arrived at the location, they immediately noticed the shape Charlie was in. It was obvious he had been attacked or involved in a dogfight. The poor boy was covered in scraps, gashes, and puncture wounds, all of which could be infected.

It was also obvious Charlie had missed more than a couple of meals, the sweet boy was extremely hungry and emaciated.

Charlie was rushed to Center Line Veterinary Hospital for evaluation and to have his wounds cleaned and treated.

After just one day, Charlie is already feeling better and is soaking up as much love and affection as he can get. Click the video below to see him in action!

We are so glad sweet Charlie is now in good hands and are so grateful to the wonderful people who took the time out to help a dog in need during the cold weather season.

With the holidays fast approaching and many people looking at the notion of adopting a new furry family member, please remember that adopting a dog is a serious commitment. Many pets adopted for the holidays end up being returned to the shelter by the time Valentine’s Day rolls around. Pets should be treated with the same love, respect, and care as any other member of the family. When a dog is abandoned, whether on the streets or at a shelter, it affects not only that dog in ways you can’t imagine, but also other dogs awaiting a home and even the shelter workers and rescues themselves, emotionally and financially.
