Millions of Americans — including children, seniors, and people with disabilities — are on the brink of losing access to food. With the government shutdown continuing, federal officials warn there’s no money left to fund SNAP beyond October 2025. If Congress fails to act, 42 million people could see their food assistance slashed or stopped entirely.
SNAP, known as food stamps, is the backbone of America’s fight against hunger. For every dollar spent, it generates $1.54 in economic activity — and in 2021 alone, it lifted nearly 3 million people out of poverty. Food banks cannot replace it; SNAP provides nine meals for every one a food bank can offer. Without immediate action, families across the nation will face hunger and hardship.
Congress must act now. Protect human dignity and prevent this crisis — sign the petition now to save SNAP funding.
