Brazil is on the brink of a major victory for animals — but it’s not law yet. The Chamber of Deputies has voted to ban the sale of cosmetics tested on animals, but President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva still needs to sign it. Without his approval, loopholes will remain, and countless rabbits, guinea pigs, and mice could continue to endure agonising tests where toxic chemicals are dripped into their eyes or rubbed on raw skin — often without pain relief.
Over 50 countries, from India to the EU, have already banned cosmetic animal testing. Brazil, South America’s biggest beauty market, has the chance to lead the region with cruelty-free innovation. Thirteen states already have bans in place — now we need a national law.
Sign the petition now to demand President Lula sign this bill and end the suffering.
