21 Bats Were Huddled Together on the Ground, Soaked and Cold … Now They’re in Caring Hands

The Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation Center recently took in a small family of bats. Specifically, 21 Mexican Free-Tailed bats. They were found by one of the biologists, huddled together on the ground. There were no trees or buildings anywhere, causing rescuers to wonder where these bats had come from. They didn’t have much time to ponder, as the bats were cold and soaked.

Heartbreakingly, there were even a few dead bats nearby. It was clear that these babies needed help.

Wild West Wildlife hurried the small bats back to their rehabilitation center for help. They then got to work helping these babies.

They started by trying to feed mealworms to the bats. Some were more enthusiastic than others. The bat in the video below, according to the rehabilitation center, said that they preferred their mealworms out of a small dish.

More than food, though, the bats rejoiced in having a warm place to cuddle together. They snuggled together, enjoying being out of the cold, wetness of the outdoors.

People often view bats as ugly or dangerous. However, if people look closely, they’ll see how cute they are. Some might even say that they’re beautiful. Aside from their looks, the fact is that humans wouldn’t exist without bats. We need them, whether people want to admit it or not.
