The Beautiful Moment a Rescued Lamb Met a Kind Human for the First Time (PHOTO)

Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary in Australia recently welcomed an adorable new resident, Simone – and we just can’t stop looking at this touching photo. The very lucky lamb was brought to the safe haven after a good Samaritan found the young lamb abandoned on a recreation oval. Simone was discovered with a hunched back, a stifled gait, protruding spine and ribs, and a snotty nose. Edgar’s Mission quickly got Simone to a veterinary hospital, but because of the mounting list of problems, the little sheep’s survival seemed bleak. But the incredible rescue team refused to give up – and neither did Simone.

With lots of love, patience, and a giant teddy bear to cuddle with, Simone began to recover from her traumatic past. Edgar’s Mission explains,  “Over the ensuing days, we found before us one of the gentlest and most courageous of animals, who loved and still loves nothing more than to curl up in our lap and in doing so causes our hearts to almost burst with joy … She is sweet, she is kind, and she is alive simply because someone cared to hear their heart.”

This photo shows the beautiful moment Simone realized she will never have to fear the world again.

Although sheep and lambs are not typically raised under the same intensive conditions that other farm animals suffer through, lamb meat is popular with backyard farming. Most of the lambs in this industry are killed before they even reach one year old and sometimes even sooner. What many people don’t realize is that cows, chickens, sheep, pigs, and goats are not, in fact, “stupid” animals who don’t care about their fate. To the contrary, these animals are highly intelligent and experience emotions in a very similar way to humans. Knowing this, it seems absurd that we would continue to subject them to such pain and suffering.
